On hot summer days, Emilee and Zach Englert have the cool factor covered with Perfect Day Ice Cream. Inspired by a family trip to New Zealand, the couple brought made-to-order, New Zealand-style ice cream to Hawaii. In this version, real fruit is blended directly into the ice cream.
The food truck is open-facing, so guests get to watch the ice cream magic in real time.
"When you stop by Perfect Day, it's more than just some ice cream -- it's an experience! You choose your fruit, and we swirl the fruit into our ice cream base right before your eyes," shares Emilee.
Choose a waffle cone or a cup, then customize your treat with banana, papaya, strawberry, blueberry or mango. The must-try mix is the kookaberry, a blend of strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and raspberries.
Want more fruit? You can add extra for just a dollar. Pick your ice cream base, either vanilla or coconut, and finish with toppings like dye-free sprinkles, peanut butter drizzle or waffle cone bits.
If you're in the mood for something more filling, try the biz's acai bowls. The classic acai swirl ($12) features organic acai, kookaberry fruit and a coconut base, topped with peanut butter drizzle, cacao nibs, coconut flakes and waffle cone bits. Or, indulge in the Maui sunset ($11.25), a coconut-based ice cream mixed with strawberry, mango and pineapple, topped with lilikoi drizzle and coconut flakes.
While its food truck is stationed at Waikele Premium Outlets, you can also find Perfect Day Ice Cream at the Kakaako Farmers Market on Saturdays and the Lokahi Kailua Market on Sundays.
Plus, the biz recently opened Perfect Day Cafe in Kailua, where you can enjoy fruit-packed ice cream alongside coffee from Tradition Coffee Roasters and bagels from Big a Time Bagels.
No matter where you visit the company, you'll always have the perfect ice cream indulgence for the perfect day.
