CAMP COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) - Harry Bayne has a lot of art. He says he couldn't find the right building to display it correctly, so he had one built.
There is a brand-new museum about to open up here in East Texas. The Bayne Fine Art and Automotive Museum located at 65 Hill's Trail Road in Camp County East of Pittsburg. And the Bayne Museum contains over a thousand original works of art which may take all day to peruse.
"I'm not sure why I decided it, to build a museum. I think it was because we wanted to share the things that we had collected over the years, with the general public, because I know they would appreciate them," Bayne said.
He and his wife Patsy amassed a huge collection of art before she died in April of 2025. He designed the building with over a dozen rooms which hold various art themes.
"I drew it on an 81/2 by 11 sheet of paper one day when I was sitting having a beer with one of my friends. And basically, it hasn't changed much from my original drawing," Bayne said.
Building began on the 40-thousand-square-foot structure in 2013.
"It's been a thrill for me. It really has. I hung every piece of artwork in here. And, believe me, I was tired by the time I got finished," Bayne said.
"I bet," I said.
The rooms vary from western art to modern and kinetic to satire through the ages, to Africa, and even the great masters featuring works by Rembrandt and Goya. He has dozens of works by Salvador Dali in one of the halls.
"We have a lot of things here that if you don't see it here you may never see it again in your lifetime," Bayne said.
Bayne says the museum will open to the public sometime in the next month and a half. He says he'll be charging ten dollars for admission. His automotive museum will open sometime in 2026.
