Wholesale market prices of most vegetables have risen during the past week, while fruits and basic food products' prices are variable, according to data from the State Commission for Commodity Exchanges and Wholesale Markets published on Sunday.
The market index for wholesale food prices in Bulgaria slightly increased by 0.04% to 2.314 points compared to 2.313 points a week earlier. The base level of the index (1 point) was set in 2005.
In the vegetables category, the price of cucumbers has risen by 9.47% to BGN 3.40/kg, of carrots by 9.16% to BGN 1.12/kg. Tomato prices are up by 6.42% to BGN 2.62/kg. The price of red peppers has increased by 7.24% to BGN 2.31/kg, of green peppers by 6.28% to BGN 2.10/kg. Zucchini prices have also risen by 3.22% and are traded at BGN 2.50/kg. The price of potatoes remains unchanged at BGN 0.95/kg. Only the price of cabbage has dropped by 8.68% to BGN 0.80/kg, and of onions by 12.37% to BGN 0.85/kg.
Among fruits, the price of apples has decreased the most, by 14.02% to BGN 2.00/kg. The price of grapes is down by 9.26% to BGN 2.90/kg. Oranges are traded at BGN 2.38/kg, down by 5.56%. The price of bananas has risen by 0.74% to BGN 2.71/kg, and of lemons by 1.07% to BGN 3.40/kg.
The price of white brined cheese from cow's milk fell by 0.63% to BGN 11.90/kg, while that of Vitosha-type yellow kashkaval cheese increased by 0.18% to BGN 18.15/kg. The price of yogurt (with a fat content of 3% and over) is up by 0.88% and is sold at BGN 1.38 per 400 g cup. Fresh milk is cheaper by 1.96%, down to BGN 2.30 per litre. The price of cow's milk butter (125-gram pack) is lower by 1.97% and is traded at BGN 3.08 per piece.
Frozen poultry fell in price by 2.10% to BGN 6.71/kg, while eggs (size M) increased by 0.49%, and were selling at BGN 0.41 per piece wholesale.
Rice prices have declined by 0.88% to BGN 3.37/kg. Mature beans and lentils rose by 0.28% to BGN 4.28/kg and 3.60% to BGN 4.20/kg respectively. The price of flour (type 500) fell by 5.56% to BGN 1.53/kg. Sunflower oil was cheaper this week by 0.18% and was sold at BGN 3.30 per litre. The price of sugar fell by 4.69% to BGN 1.79/kg.
