Brad Pitt's legendary F1 Sunspel sweatshirt is a Black Friday essential at 30% off

Fourteen colourways, including greens similar to that worn in this summer's speediest blockbuster, are going for up to 30 per cent off

One of the biggest blockbusters of the year was a 155-minute epic centred around a guy, played by Brad Pitt, whose beat-up Sunspel sweatshirt took him from the doldrums to the big time. Okay, we're playing a little fast and loose with F1's plot, but after seeing Sonny Hayes mosey into the paddock wearing his thyme green loopback, the rest of the movie kind of became a blur. Thankfully, the best Black Friday deals care not for starpower, and the sweater in a tonne of colourways is now available for up to 30 per cent off.

There were other contenders for our favourite costume design moments of the year, of course: we had Oscar Isaac as Frankenstein in his red leather gloves, Pierce Brosnan in a denim jacket for The Thursday Murday Club, and Jeremy Allen White as Bruce Springsteen in a bunch of great jackets. But Brad Pitt in the Sunspel sweatshirt first introduced to the brand by Jonathan Anderson over 15 years ago hit some beautiful notes.

Movie magic like this isn't accidental. When our style editor Mahalia Chang interviewed F1's costume designer Julian Day in the summer, he told her that Sunspel's sweaters are, "So easy to wear and so easy to look at. You know: lovely, classic, soft fabrics." Pitt agreed: "He'd come in and...say, 'Oh, I really like that. Let's wear that today,' or 'The scene is this, let's do that.'" His discerning choices lead to the Sunspel loopback sweatshirt showing up in both thyme green and shell pink.

The thyme green makes particular sense, because Pitt is currently in his green era. He recently told a friend that, "I do like a flash of green, I can't lie. [It's] like comfort food for shirts."

And, look, this is Black Friday. Not a dream world. The screen-accurate green and pink are not available in the sale. But 14 other colourways are! And if you're going to forge a path towards your own style rather than follow the celebrities that have gone before (as we will always encourage our readers to do) it's better to choose your own favourite, anyway.
