'Passion project' wellness and yoga studio opens in Tyneside | Chronicle Live

A new wellness destination has opened in Newcastle as yoga fans head to SOSA in Gosforth. Founded by local lass Emma Cutting, SOSA is offering more than just a yoga studio, but is also a community space dedicated to balance, healing and self-discovery.

Designed to help people slow down, reconnect and discover the benefits of yoga and holistic therapies, SOSA promises a modern approach to wellbeing, blending traditional practices with contemporary techniques. From energising vinyasa flows to restorative yin sessions, reiki, massage, sound therapy evenings and cacao ceremonies, a wide range of practices are brought together under one roof, making it a destination for anyone looking to invest in their wellbeing and fitness.

"SOSA has been a true passion project," Emma explains: "When I first discovered yoga, I needed a space that felt safe, supportive and welcoming, somewhere I could explore without judgement.

"That's exactly what I've built with SOSA. It's not just about movement on the mat, it's about creating a community where people can learn, grow, and reconnect with themselves.

"I'm so excited to open the doors and welcome people into this space."

Emma's personal journey lies at the heart of SOSA - after being diagnosed with a dissociative disorder a decade ago she faced the choice of pursuing medication or alternative healing. Choosing instead to immerse herself in meditation and holistic practices, and inspired by her stepmum's encouragement, Emma trained as a yoga teacher and holistic therapist - travelling to India, Bali and Vietnam to deepen her practice.

With the support of a team of highly experienced instructors, SOSA provides a variety of teaching styles with more than just traditional yoga classes so every student can find the right fit for their journey. The studio itself reflects this ethos with earthy tones, calming lighting, essential oils and incense.

Now open seven days a week, class times are tailored to fit around busy modern lifestyles. For those new to the studio, Emma has launched a special 'New to SOSA' offer, which gives unlimited classes for 21 days for just £30, giving clients the chance to try different teachers, styles and therapies, discovering what resonates with them most.

Classes are capped at just eight mats, with one-to-one sessions and private bookings for hen parties, team away days or girls' nights available too.

Emma adds: "The demands on people today are higher than ever. I want SOSA to be a space where people can truly switch off, invest in themselves and feel supported.

"Whether you're stepping on the mat for the first time or deepening your practice, my hope is that everyone leaves SOSA feeling more balanced, whatever that looks like for them."

Looking ahead, Emma has big ambitions for SOSA and hopes to expand across the North East with multiple studios and ultimately bring SOSA's ethos into the corporate world. For more information and to book classes, visit the SOSA website.
