It's no surprise that Minden is quickly becoming my favorite escape from Shreveport. With all the charming Minden Stays and a traffic-free route, it's a much better change of scenery than driving to Dallas or Broken Bow, and it doesn't cost a fortune.
This little town just acquired another spot that adds to its reputation as a one-of-a-kind destination for the Ark-La-Tex: Orleans on Main Bistreaux.
This restaurant is undeniably shaking things up. They fully embraced the look of the Big Easy, the beads on the trees outside instantly make me crave some delicious, Cajun-inspired goodness. As they proudly state, they are "Minden's one and only Cajun Creole Restaurant," bringing the vibrant flavors of Louisiana to your table alongside expertly crafted steaks and succulent seafood.
I finally made reservations and escaped Shreveport for the night, only to look up during dinner and see so many familiar faces. Friends from Shreveport, Haughton, and Benton were all dining in Minden! Had I been the last one to find out about this hidden gem? Simply put, as my friend claimed, "There isn't anything like this in Shreveport."
The meal was next-level. I could have just ordered the Brussels sprouts and crawfish cornbread and been satisfied, but I was there for the main event. While I initially craved steak, the server raved about the redfish special, so I ordered both.
That baked potato that comes with the steak isn't playing! And that redfish special, served with dirty rice, was perfectly seasoned; the flavor wasn't apologizing. It was an explosion of happy flavors and textures.
But the real magic? The head chef personally prepared the Bananas Foster tableside. What kind of five-star service is this?
Orleans on Main Bistreaux isn't just a restaurant; it's an experience. Is this our own version of the Little Big Cup, the spot you must drive to for an unforgettable meal? I think so.
Orleans on Main Bistreaux is located at 513 Main Street Minden, LA.
