Four Random (Bold?) Red Sox Predictions As Calendar Flips To 2025

The Boston Red Sox could not be more excited to see the calendar flip to 2025.

The third consecutive playoff miss is in the past. Now, Boston has a pair of quality starters joining the rotation and the anticipated next wave of the youth movement ready to make the jump to the show. If the Red Sox stay healthy and play to potential, 2025 could bring fun back to Fenway Park in an intriguing season for Alex Cora's club in Boston.

Could more stars break out? Is Boston ready for a return to the postseason?

Here are four bold predictions for the Red Sox in 2025:

Garrett Crochet Wins American League Cy Young Award

Boston should see the benefit of their aggressive move to acquire Crochet in a blockbuster trade with the Chicago White Sox.

The 25-year-old lefty makes the move to Boston after his first full season as a starter that featured dominant strikeout numbers and an improved arsenal on the mound. Pair that potential with pitching coach Andrew Bailey and Crochet should soar with the Red Sox into a breakout season.

The Red Sox got Crochet to emerge as the next ace of the franchise. He can prove it in 2025.

Triston Casas Hits 30 Home Runs

Casas found his name in several rumors all offseason long thus far after an injury-riddled 2024 campaign. Apparently that was enough to forget about the campaign he previously put together in a third-place finish for the American League Rookie of the Year in 2023.

Casas has true power and a quality plate approach. He's gone through his adjustment period at the MLB level. This should be the year the Red Sox first baseman mashes from wire to wire.

Kristian Campbell Marks First Top Prospect To Debut

The years of farm system rebuilding will pay off for the Red Sox in 2025.

Roman Anthony and Marcelo Mayer headlined the rising talent wave in the minor leagues for a number of years. The 2024 season then saw the rapid three-level rise of the 2023 fourth-rounder in Campbell.

His right-handed pop in positional versatility give Campbell, roster-wise, the best chance to debut first. Maybe even as early as Opening Day for the Red Sox.

Red Sox Make Playoffs

Boston addressed the rotation. They have legitimate arms in a bullpen reshuffle. The offense that's placed Top-10 in baseball (OPS) for seven straight years will put up runs.

The Red Sox still have to find a way to fight a second-half slump. If they do, they'll return to the playoffs for the first time since 2021.
