Upper Marlboro Murder Case: Video Shows Fatal Shooting Outside Giant, Trial And Sentencing Pending - The BayNet

DISTRICT HEIGHTS, Md. -- A 19-year-old defendant has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder and armed robbery, while a second 25-year-old suspect is preparing to face a jury trial in connection with an alleged fatal shooting and robbery over a jacket in Upper Marlboro. Investigators say surveillance footage places both individuals in the shopping center moments before the reported attack.

Keyondre Joyner, 25, of Washington, D.C., and Jamiel Delonta Collins, 19, of Oxon Hill, are charged in the Feb. 2, 2025, shooting death of a 20-year-old victim, Davon Fludd, outside the Giant grocery store where both the victim and Collins were employed.

According to court records, Collins pleaded guilty in November 2025 to conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and armed robbery, while maintaining not-guilty pleas to murder, two counts of firearm use in a felony violent crime, and conspiracy to commit robbery. His sentencing is set for April 17, 2026. Collins was booked into the St. Mary's County Detention and Rehabilitation Center on Dec. 5, 2025. Authorities have not confirmed whether the booking is connected to the ongoing homicide prosecution.

Court documents show Joyner, charged in the same case, faces seven counts filed in Prince George's County Circuit Court: murder; conspiracy to commit first-degree murder; armed robbery; conspiracy to commit robbery; and three counts of firearm use in a felony violent crime. Court records indicate that Joyner is scheduled to stand trial in March 2026.

According to investigators, officers responded to a report of a shooting near the bus stop outside the Giant and Panda Express in District Heights. Upon arrival, law enforcement found the victim on the sidewalk with gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a regional medical center, where they were later pronounced deceased. Investigators stated they later obtained surveillance footage that they say shows both defendants in the shopping center prior to the shooting.

According to investigators, the footage allegedly shows Collins entering the Giant grocery store while Joyner is seen walking toward the Panda Express. Investigators also stated that the victim and Collins allegedly knew one another as coworkers. Video reviewed by detectives reportedly shows the victim leaving the Giant and walking toward the bus stop, where Joyner approaches. According to investigators, the video appears to show Joyner extend an arm before the victim falls to the ground. Investigators say the footage then shows someone taking items before fleeing on foot.

Court documents indicate that Joyner allegedly intended to rob the victim of their Moose Knuckle jacket. Investigators allege that Collins provided Joyner with the victim's work schedule and helped facilitate the plan for a day when Collins would be relieving the victim at work, allowing Joyner to approach outside the store.

The case remains ongoing as sentencing and trial dates approach.

Under Maryland law, first-degree murder is punishable by up to life imprisonment. Conspiracy to commit first-degree murder carries the same maximum penalty as the underlying offense. Armed robbery is punishable by up to 20 years in prison, while robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery carry maximum penalties of up to 15 years. Each count of firearm use in the commission of a felony violent crime carries a maximum sentence of 20 years, served consecutively.
