Astley Rotary Club's Christmas float to tour local estates

FATHER Christmas will be touring the Astley district ahead of Christmas, thanks to the efforts of the Rotary Club of Astley.

Starting December 1, the festive float will roam local estates and make appearances outside various stores and at carol services for three weeks.

Organisers have detailed a comprehensive schedule of the sleigh's whereabouts, ensuring as many children as possible get a chance to meet Santa.

The float will make its rounds from 6pm to 8.30pm.

On December 1, it will visit Lark Hill, Larkmead, Larkfield Close, Astley Brook Close, and Hope Street, among other locations.

December 2 sees it heading to Crossgill, Hawkworth, Holbeck, Manchester Road, Coldalhurst Lane, and Garner Drive.

On December 4, it will tour Duke Street, Brook Drive, Brook Meadow Close, Manor Road, Merton Grove, and Higher Green Lane.

The float will also have static collection points on December 5 and 6, from 11am to 3pm, and 10.30am to 3.30pm, respectively, at Ena Mill on Gloucester Street, Atherton.

December 7 will see another static collection at Sainsbury's Superstore, Parsonage Retail Park, Leigh, between 10.30am and 3.30pm.

December 8, the float resumes its rounds, visiting Coach Road, Church Road, Ellenor Drive, Withington Drive, Acresfield, Tanhouse Avenue, and Riding Close.

December 9 will see a static collection at Sainsbury's again, followed by an evening visit to Stour Road, Dee Road, Avon Road, Humber Road, and Whimbrel Road.

December 10, the float will cover South Lane, St.

Ambrose Road, St Stephens Close, High Street, Clegg Street, North Lane, Willow Avenue, and Sherwood Avenue.

On December 11, it will be part of the evening carol service at Bullcroft, Manchester Road.

December 12 and 13 will see static collections at the Coop Store, Gables, Stour Road, Astley, between 11am and 3pm on the 12th and 11am and 3.30pm on the 13th.

December 14 will have another static collection at Sainsbury's from 10.30am to 3.30pm.

The float continues its journey on December 15 to Ennerdale Road, Derwent Street, Esthwaite Drive, Rydal Close, and Pendeen Close.

December 16, it will visit Parkfield Avenue, Norwood Avenue, Ley Crescent, Greenland Road, Sunnybank Road, and Woodlands Road.

December 18 will see the float at the Lancashire Mining Museum's carol service.

The festivities will continue until December 21.
