(TNND) -- Actor Hudson Meek, best known for playing a young version of Ansel Elgort's character in "Baby Driver," has died after falling from a moving vehicle in Vestavia Hills, Alabama, WVTM reports.
The accident occurred on Dec. 19 when the 16-year-old sustained blunt force trauma injuries after falling from a moving vehicle, according to Jefferson County Coroner's office.
Meek was hospitalized at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he passed away from his injuries on Dec. 21, the coroner's office confirmed.
A statement from his Instagram account reads:
His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met.
In addition to his role in "Baby Driver," Meek lent his voice as the lead to the children's series "Badanamu Stories" and appeared in shows such as NBC's "Found," The CW's,"Legacies," and the recent thriller "The School Duel."
Outside of his acting career, Meek played football at Vestavia High School, became a certified open water scuba diver at age 13 and had visited all 50 states. His obituary describes him as "reflective and thoughtful," and "tenacious when he set his mind to something." He enjoyed the outdoors and activities such as skiing challenging trails, tubing, and wakeboarding at the lake.
His family is planning a funeral and memorial service on Saturday, Dec. 28, that will be livestreamed on Meek's Instagram account.
The Vestavia Hills Police Department is still investigating the circumstances of his death.
