New AI toolkit developed in Ceredigion to hit the market

A digital toolkit developed in Ceredigion is set to change the game for small businesses.

Antur Cymru Enterprise's SMART Busnes programme aims to give SMEs a head start in answer engine optimisation.

This is a new discipline focused on featuring in AI-generated responses.

As AI changes how information is found, SMART Busnes has unveiled one of the first practical AEO toolkits in Wales.

Backed by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, the initiative equips rural businesses with the necessary skills and understanding to remain visible in an online world increasingly dominated by AI-generated responses.

SMART Busnes project manager, Kevin Harrington, said: "AI search is here to stay, and our Agentic AEO insight series isn't a tweak - it's a reset.

"It's about helping Welsh SMEs show up wherever customers search, on Google, on social media, even within AI answers.

"This work gives our rural businesses the same digital advantage that large brands pay thousands for."

AI-driven tools like Google's Search Generative Experience and ChatGPT are surpassing traditional SEO.

Users receive direct, conversational answers instead of scrolling through long lists of links.

This presents a challenge for SMEs who stand to lose visibility if their content isn't AI-compatible.

Agentic AEO centres on clarity, structure, and user intent across a firm's website, social media, and Google Business Profile.

Providing AI with easily digestible information allows small enterprises to enhance their visibility and credibility in AI-generated responses.

The SMART Busnes AEO Insight Series serves as a practical guide with step-by-step instructions on restructuring web pages, examples of superior layouts, and exclusive AI prompts to assist busy owners in creating optimised content quickly and economically.

Even a cursory website review or a targeted content update can impact a business's visibility throughout the year.

Bronwen Raine, CEO of Antur Cymru, said: "SMART Busnes was built to help small businesses adapt to change, not chase it.

"The Agentic AEO insight series shows how Shared Prosperity Fund investment is driving genuine innovation, building confidence, skills, and sustainability across local economies."

In an environment where many Welsh SEO providers remain committed to obsolete methods, SMART Busnes is making Ceredigion a pacesetter in AEO adoption.

Through turning emerging theory into accessible support, the initiative is increasing digital resilience in Mid and West Wales and ensuring that small enterprises remain visible, trusted, and competitive in a future led by AI.
