CAIRO, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- Voting began on Monday in the first phase of Egypt's 2025 House of Representatives elections, which will last till Tuesday.
A total of 35,279,922 voters are eligible to participate in this phase of the elections, according to the supreme elections committee.
The first phase covers 14 governorates, including Giza, Fayoum, Beni Suef, Minya, Assiut, New Valley, Sohag, Qena, Luxor, Aswan, Red Sea, Alexandria, Beheira, and Matrouh.
The House of Representatives comprises 568 elected members, including 284 elected through a closed-list system and 284 through an individual system, in addition to members appointed by the president.
On Nov. 7, Egyptian expatriates around the world cast their ballots at embassies and consulates.
Voting in the second phase will take place on Nov. 21 to 22 for expatriates and on Nov. 24 to 25 for citizens inside the country in the remaining 13 governorates. ■
