The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities' Arts Centre, in cooperation with the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Kingdom of Bahrain, inaugurated the exhibition "Manifestations of Arabic Calligraphy" by world-renowned Chinese calligrapher Haji Nooruddin Meiguangjiang. The exhibition is open daily from 9 am to 8 pm at the Arts Centre until today.

The opening ceremony was attended by His Excellency Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Authority, and H.E. Ni Ruochi, Ambassador of China to Bahrain, along with several ambassadors, diplomats, officials, artists, and members of the local cultural community.

The exhibition celebrates the expressive and spiritual dimensions of Arabic calligraphy, featuring more than 45 artworks that blend classical aesthetics with modern artistic vision.

Inspiration

Haji Nooruddin's works draw inspiration from Quranic verses, presenting intricate compositions that merge tradition and innovation while showcasing the visual and spiritual beauty of the Arabic script.

Employing a range of techniques that emphasise roundness, elongation, and composition, the artist bridges the forms of Arabic and Chinese calligraphy, creating a unique synthesis of Eastern thought and Arab spirit. His work highlights the Arabic letter as a complete and independent work of art, rich in rhythm and balance.

Haji Nooruddin has received international acclaim for his role in promoting cultural dialogue and artistic exchange between the Arab and Asian worlds.

He was also named among the top 500 most influential Muslim figures globally by Georgetown University in cooperation with the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre in Jordan.

The "Manifestations of Arabic Calligraphy" exhibition forms part of the World Islamic Art Day celebrations.
