An amended plan to demolish a building in Stourport to make way for a new supermarket has been approved.
The non-material amendment, which was submitted by Aldi to Wyre Forest District Council, will allow for the demolition of Minerva Point to take place before either the full or part details of the new Aldi store have been agreed.
Wyre Forest District Council's planning committee voted to approve the planning application for the new Aldi store on the brownfield site off Worcester Road on March 18.
The discount supermarket giant submitted an application to the council back in 2022.
Objections were raised to the proposal, including from rival supermarkets Tesco and Lidl.
The application was recommended for approval and councillors voted to approve the application during the meeting held earlier this year.
According to the planning meeting agenda, the application will "support a vibrant and sustainable local economy" creating around 40 new retail job opportunities and jobs in employment.
It also highlights that the development will result in the "effective use" and re-use of "accessible available and environmentally acceptable brownfield land."
The amended application, which was submitted on July 8, was approved on August 6.
The decision notice said: "Following review of the submitted details against the considerations of Section 96A of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, it is considered that the proposed amendments to conditions attached to planning approval ref 22/0180/HYB to clarify their wording, and amend their trigger points for details to be submitted to enable initial demolition works to commence, would not significantly deviate from the original scheme as permitted, would have no adverse impact on the character of the surroundings, nor impact upon the living conditions of any nearby occupier.
"The proposal is therefore deemed to be non-material and Wyre Forest District Council approves the amendments described above."
