Tom Green Is Engaged: 'I Am the Luckiest Guy in the World'

Toria Sheffield joined the PEOPLE editorial staff in 2024. Her work as a writer/editor has previously appeared in places like Bustle, LAMag, and HelloGiggles.

The comedian, 53, announced the news via an Instagram Threads post on Sunday, Dec. 22. "Big news! Amanda and I are engaged!" he wrote. "I am the luckiest guy in the world. I love you Amanda. Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas from us to all of you! ❤️❤️❤️❤️."

Though Green did not reveal Amanda's last name or any other details about her, he shared several photos of the pair, including one winter-weather snapshot in which his new fiancée shows off her sparkly engagement ring.

PEOPLE reached out to the star's rep for additional details about the proposal but did not receive an immediate response.

While it's unclear when the pair began dating or how they met, Green appears to have first posted publicly about their relationship in June 2024. "Thank you to my amazing girlfriend Amanda for the fun times out west that was an adventure!" he captioned an Instagram post that month while also sharing snaps from a recent vacation.

Since then, the Roadtrip actor has shared several loving tributes to Amanda, often referring to her as "beautiful" and "amazing."

In addition to achieving immense popularity with his MTV series The Tom Green Show, which premiered in 1994 and ran for three seasons, Green is perhaps also best known for his short-lived marriage to actress and talk show host Drew Barrymore.

Green and Barrymore, 49, began dating in March 2000 after meeting on the set of Charlie's Angels and married a little over a year later in July 2001. Green filed for divorce five months later in December.

"Drew is a wonderful woman," he said in a statement at the time. "I love her very much. I wish our marriage could have worked out. I wish her much happiness." The divorce was finalized in October 2002.

Their short time together entailed several tumultuous life events, including Green's testicular cancer diagnosis and a house fire.

"[We] were young and kind of idiots ... I didn't know how to manage myself," Barrymore said of their relationship while appearing on Howard Stern's SiriusXM show in 2021.

"I've always said I was a woman in the boardroom and a child in the bedroom. I could go into a studio and pitch ... but I didn't know how to handle things in my personal life," she added.

Green and Barrymore reunited on her daytime talk show The Drew Barrymore Show that same year, and the E.T. actress took the opportunity to tell Green she loved him.

"We have not seen each other face-to-face, actually, in almost 20 years," Barrymore told her audience before introducing Green and welcoming him with a hug.

"It's very nice to see you. It does feel weird, though," Green told Barrymore. "Not weird in a bad way -- weird in a good way. Appreciate it, Drew, so thanks for having me on the show. It's awesome. This is cool. I actually think this is a nice way of reconnecting, actually. It takes a little bit of the pressure off."

Barrymore replied, "Well, I respect and love you," to which Green said, "Love you, too."
