Love Is Blind's Kieran signed up for Love Island before marrying Megan on Netflix show - The Mirror

A Love Is Blind UK contestant nearly found himself on a completely different reality TV series after being cast as a Love Island bombshell.

The second series of the hit show made a spectacular return to Netflix as viewers were treated to explosive arguments and emotional breakdowns.

Following its conclusion on August 31 with a dramatic reunion special, audiences discovered that just one pair remained blissfully wed after their experience on the programme.

Gaming enthusiast Kieran Holmes-Darby and professional dancer Megan Jupp struck up an immediate bond whilst in the pods and continued to flourish as they got engaged. Their romance seemed effortless, as they swiftly became audience favourites, reports OK!.

After exchanging vows at the ceremony, during the reunion show, they informed presenters Matt and Emma Willis they stayed happily married and were eager about their shared future as they posted on social media saying "finally".

Now, the newlywed duo have spoken candidly on the We Need To Talk Podcast with Paul C Brunson regarding their journey on the programme as Kieran revealed a shocking confession. He disclosed he nearly didn't appear on the show after being previously selected for Love Island.

Discussing how he was recently single after ending a lengthy romance, he chose to audition for the ITV dating programme. He told host Paul C Brunson: "I was on a date with a girl and she said to me you would be really good on Love Island. I was like 'I don't know how to take that as a comment on a date,' on a first date, I don't know how to take this.

"But she planted a seed in my head and I went home after the date and I applied for Love Island that night after a few drinks."

He revealed he progressed through the audition process and was "cast as a bombshell on the series of Love Island prior to Love Is Blind UK".

Kieran continued by saying the selection process lasted eight months, explaining: "In the end they basically cast me, I signed the contract with ITV and I was cast on Love Island.

"Now my mum was horrified, she was like this is not a show for you Kieran, that's not you, a lot of my family shared the same sentiments. Some of my friends thought well that's just hilarious, yeah you should definitely do that."

However, he admitted he never actually appeared on the programme, explaining: "I never even got out to the holding villa, they must have loads of us in this bombshell section, I don't know how it works.

"They were ringing me every three days asking who are you interested in on the show and obviously depending on what answers you give, will depend on whether you are getting dropped into the villa or not."

Kieran wasn't selected for the programme, though he soon received a phone call enquiring if he would join the Love Is Blind UK season 2 lineup as there was "one more slot for a man on the show."

Kieran confessed that he was initially uncertain if he was "ready for all that", but later admitted to being open to participating in the social experiment. He added: "I never thought I'd get married or meet the one."
