Local Resident Surprised By Mountain Lion In Backyard Footage

It is fairly common in Texas to see all kinds of wildlife on your back porch, especially in rural areas. However, one residential neighborhood in North Texas got a bit of a shock when they discovered a mountain lion lurking in their backyard.

According to WFAA, Brent Blackwell was having some issues with his yard being torn up by unknown varmints where he lived in Frisco, Texas. So, he did what most people do when these kinds of things happen: he installed new security cameras.

After installing his new cameras, he noticed several rabbits were getting in his yard and that seemed to be what the problem was. But, he was wrong.

After reviewing the video a few times, Blackwell discovered that there indeed was a rabbit in his backyard and that the mountain lion had chased it there. He contacted Texas Parks and Wildlife who, according to the report, confirmed the sighting.

Mountain lions can roam for miles in search of food, meaning they could be passing through and may not stay in one area long. However, local wildlife officials urge anyone who sees a mountain lion to report it to local animal control or the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. This helps officials track wildlife movement and respond if the animal presents a risk.
