The tragic Dhaula Kuan BMW accident on Saturday claimed the life of Navjot Singh, Deputy Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance. Singh was killed after his motorcycle was hit by a speeding BMW car near Metro pillar number 67, Dhaula Kuan.
He was immediately rushed to Nuelife Hospital, GTB Nagar, where doctors declared him brought dead. Singh's wife, who was travelling with him, sustained injuries and is under treatment.
Navjot Singh was a serving Deputy Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs, North Block, New Delhi. Known among his colleagues as a dedicated officer, Singh was part of the Finance Ministry team handling crucial policy matters. His sudden demise has left a void within the administrative circle.
Singh, a resident of Hari Nagar, Delhi, had a long-standing career in government service. He had worked on key files involving economic planning and policy implementation. According to senior officials, his contributions to the ministry were marked by diligence and quiet efficiency.
According to eyewitnesses, a woman was driving the BMW that hit Singh's motorcycle. After the collision, the car overturned, and Singh along with his wife was thrown off balance. The injured were then transported to hospital in a taxi by the woman and her husband, who themselves sustained injuries in the crash.
Police have since seized the BMW, examined the accident site with the crime team and FSL experts, and registered an FIR. Legal action is underway.
The incident has once again highlighted the dangers of reckless driving in the capital, with a senior bureaucrat's life cut short in a tragic mishap.
