On 1 January, a user named Venom on X sparked outrage for posting a statistic. Venom tweeted about a post by quick-commerce service Blinkit's CEO, who shared that 1.2 lakh packets of condoms were delivered across India on New Year's Eve. In his reply, Venom wrote, "Good luck finding a virgin girl to marry in this generation," drawing backlash from feminists from his alleged 'sexist' comment.
The tweet sparked a wave of criticism from both male and female feminists, with them calling it outdated and harmful. Among the strong reactions was singer Chinmayi Sripada, who is also a well-known feminist. On Instagram Stories, Chinmayi Sripada sarcastically suggested that men with such views should stop engaging in premarital sex.
Venom's post on X read, "Blinkit CEO posted that 1.2 lakh packets of condoms were delivered last night. Just for last night and just for Blinkit. Other e-commerce sites and market sales would be as high as 10 million. Good luck finding a virgin girl to marry in this generation."
Attaching a screenshot of it, Chinmayi Sripada wrote, "Men have sex with women. Then men complain they want virgins. Men need to stop having premarital sex with women ask your bros and male friends to NEVER have sex till marriage- unless they were buying condoms to have sex with goats, dogs and reptiles."
