Fees, fitness opportunities, and layout of the new Enterprise Recreation Center facilities was part of the update Blake Moore, Interim Director of Community Services and Recreation Blake Moore, and Fitness and Facility Coordinator Jenny Brown gave Enterprise Lions at their recent meeting
The old Moose Hope Gym was completely renovated and now includes air conditioning. The court inside Moose Hope, as well as the new gym, can be used as five basketball courts or 10 volleyball courts or 10 pickleball courts during set hours.
A weight room, with free weights and machines, as well as a cardio room and activity room will allow users a variety of options to work out. Lockers will be available daily, while supplies last, for a small rental fee. A snack bar will also be staffed and utilized, especially during tournaments.
"Our hope is to be able to encourage more tournaments to come to Enterprise to take advantage of this state-of-the-art facility," Moore said. "We also have the option to use the gym for expos and trade shows or rent out spaces for civic groups or birthday parties. We created a multiuse space that we hope our community can find even more ways to enjoy.
An option of paying the gym membership fee monthly is now available. "We wanted to provide another alternative for those interested in utilizing this new facility, which is the equivalent of one dollar a day," said Moore, "This monthly rate allows users to pay on a month-by-month basis rather than a yearly rate. We hope this will encourage more of our citizens to take advantage of the state-of-the-art rec center, gyms, and pool area."
The $23-million-dollar facility is expected to open within six weeks. Crews are completing punch-list items before staff moves into the new space. Moore said Enterprise Parks and Recreation is actively hiring for a variety of positions to staff the 70,000 square foot center.
Recreation Aides and Recreation Leaders are part-time positions that will assist with the day-to-day operations at the facility, as well as help with athletic and non-athletic programs.
Fitness Instructors and Trainers are being recruited Brown. "From spin class and yoga to personal trainers and more, we plan to offer a variety of classes as well as individual training and assistance for those looking to be the best versions of themselves," Brown said. "With the start of a new year approaching, many people will set a resolution to get back into the gym or to be more active, and we want to have plenty of staff in place to help our citizens reach their goals and maintain those new year resolutions."
Moore said he is in the process of hiring an Aquatics Supervisor to oversee the outdoor pool area which includes six, 25-yard lanes on one side and a zero-depth entry with water play structure on the other side, as well as a pool house party room, as well as locker room with restrooms, showers, and changing areas. Additional positions will be available ahead of the pool opening in April.
Annual membership rates:
- Individual membership: $150
- Active-duty military with valid ID: $140
- Senior citizens (ages 65+): $140
- All additional family members: $100/each.
Non-members will be able to pay to utilize the facility, aquatic center, and/or fitness classes. All users ages 6 and older will be required to pay a $5 admission fee to use the weight room, cardio room or gym. Those who just want to use the pool will be able to enter through the pool area and pay $5 for a daily pass. Fitness class drop-in rates will be $10 per person, if class space is available. All users under the age of 16 require parental supervision.
"The different membership rates and options allow our citizens to choose what works best for their family. Those older than 16 may find a monthly or yearly membership rate makes the most sense. Some parents may decide a $5 daily pass is best because some areas like the weight and cardio rooms are only for those 16 and older. Having a variety of payment options gives people choices and allows them to decide what makes the most sense for them."
Moore emphasized that parents and guardians will be able to enter and enjoy rec games and practices free of charge, but if they want to use the facility for cardio or to go swimming, they will have to purchase a pass.
