The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has denied claims that it recorded losses exceeding GH¢3 billion in its first year of operations, describing the allegations as false and deliberately crafted to undermine the organisation's contribution to the broader economy.
This follows reports by Asaase Radio alleging that the company was operating at a major loss.
In a statement issued on Monday, November 17, 2025, and sighted by GhanaWeb Business, GoldBod said the reportage by the media outlet does not reflect the reality on the ground.

According to the Board, GoldBod has, since its inception, contributed significantly to Ghana's economy through the buying, selling, and assaying of gold mined by licensed operators across the country.
"Contrary to the mischievous claims contained in the said publication, the GoldBod has been making significant surpluses/profits since its establishment. Quarterly financial statements of the GoldBod, which will soon be published on the official website of the statutory corporation, will bear this fact out," the statement said.
GoldBod therefore urged the public to disregard the claims of financial losses and called on the media outlet to retract and apologise for what it described as a misleading and unethical publication.
"The Ghana Gold Board urges the general public to treat this false publication by Asaase Radio with utmost contempt and calls on the management of the station to retract and render an unqualified apology for such misleading and unethical publication," it added.
