I write this regarding the recent resignation of Holly Lindsey as Sheriff of Shoshone County.
I was quite surprised to hear about the events regarding the Sheriff's decision to resign. While I have not spoken to her or seen her personally, I have it from several reliable sources that she was not physically injured. Thanks be to all the saints for that.
Since I am the current chairman of the Shoshone County Republican Central Committee, it will come as no surprise that there are obvious philosophical and political differences between us. In my opinion, that has no bearing on a matter such as this. I am relieved that she has suffered no injuries. While I do not mean to put words in her mouth, I think the mental and emotional turmoil is quite enough, thank you very much.
While all of this is a most unfortunate event, to be sure, it is my hope that even out of such an unpleasant occurrence, we can gain some good. It is my hope that the superheated rhetoric that has been building in the county can now be dispensed with.
I can only imagine how bleak the outlook from Holly's point of view must seem right now. Holly, it will get better, and when you come out the other end of it, everything will almost certainly be even better than ever. Things will be different, for sure, but I have no doubt that a person of your strength and character will emerge even more capable than ever. I hope that doesn't sound too trite, or like a patronizing cliché; I truly do mean that.
I also feel that Holly's long service to the county, 21 years, needs to be noted and given some appreciation by all residents of Shoshone County.
The only thing I can really offer is to ask all, regardless of personal philosophy, religion, or political affiliation, is to remember Holley in your prayers at this turning point in her life. I also encourage any who sees her, or hears from her, to share a kind word, a comforting word, and an understanding word with her.
Holly, I wish you Godspeed, fair weather, and following winds in your future endeavors.
