Cameo's FORK2FILM Fest begins Thursday

The Cameo Cinema has announced more special events and wine and food offerings in connection with the FORK2FILM Festival March 6-9.

The screening of "A Harvest" at 11 a.m. Sunday, March 9, is sponsored by Dick Grace. The film tells of an abbey of Trappist Cistercian monks in the Northern Sacramento Valley who dedicate themselves to poverty, seclusion and love, and who sustain themselves by growing grapes and making wine.

Director Robert Gourley and winemaker Aimée Sunseri of Nichelini Family Winery will attend. There will also be wine from the monks' New Clairvaux Vineyard.

The screening of "Send Kelp" at 2 p.m. Friday, March 7, will feature Paula Kornell sparkling wine and food from Annette Shafer.

The screening of "¡Casa Bonita Mi Amor!" at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 8, is sponsored by Behrens Family Winery. It will feature wine from Alpha Omega Winery and food from Ray Ray's Tacos.

All movies will screen at the Cameo Cinema, 1340 Main St. (Highway 29/128). Tickets are $20. For festival and ticket information, visit cameocinema.com.

Thursday, March 6

2 p.m.: "M on the Bund" -- Follow the last days of M on the Bund, the restaurant that redefined fine dining in Shanghai, and its maverick founder Michelle Garnaut. Directed by Luo Tong.

5 p.m.: "Farming While Black" -- Examine the historical plight of Black farmers in the U.S. and the rising generation of Black farmers reclaiming their rightful ownership to land and reconnecting with their ancestral roots. Directed by Mark Decena. In-person Q&A with Decena and chef Darryl Bell, chef-owner of Stateline Road Smokehouse in Napa and a James Beard Award 2025 semifinalist.

7:45 p.m.: "Rioja, la Tierra de los Mil Vinos" -- Explore the vibrant evolution of the Spanish wine industry, showing the interaction between new generations and the historic wineries of Rioja. Directed by José Luis Lopez-Linares.

Friday, March 7

11 a.m.: "Buddha Jumps Over the Wall" -- Chef David Yárnoz returns to Taiwan after being gone more than three years to face the problems of bringing Spanish cuisine to the other side of the world. Directed by Pedro Peira.

2 p.m.: "Send Kelp!" -- A bootstrapping seaweed nerd takes on climate change and global food insecurity armed with nothing but determination when she sets up her own kelp farm. Directed by Blake McWilliam.

5 p.m.: "Coup!" -- A mysterious grifter appears on an isolated seaside estate claiming to be a wealthy family's new chef. When a plague descends on the island, the mischievous cook rouses his fellow staff to rebel and take over the mansion. Featuring Peter Sarsgaard, Billy Magnussen and Sarah Gadon. Directed by Austin Stark and Joseph Schuman. In-person Q&A with Magnussen.

7:45 p.m. Short Film Program featuring the following films:

"All Choked Up" -- A woman must decide whether to save her husband when he starts choking on a sandwich during lunch. Directed by Allison Volk.

"Edson's Gravy" -- Based on Russell Edson's classic poem, "Gravy" is a whimsical ode to a timeless condiment. Directed by Ryan George Kittleman.

"Leonie, Skeet, and the Piglets" -- Together with her cat Skeet, Leonie watches the last pigs disappear from the family farm, and she realizes that her dream of becoming a pig farmer might not come true. Directed by Jip Heijenga.

"Spring Roll Dream"- Vietnamese single mother Linh has successfully forged a new life for herself and her son in America. When her father visits from Vietnam and insists on cooking a traditional meal, Linh is confronted with the past and culture she left behind. Directed by Mai Vu.

"The Battle of Tita and the Machines" -- In a near future where artificial intelligence in the work force is a societal norm, Tita, an injured and elderly field worker, reluctantly hires an artificially intelligent humanoid to fill in for her picking strawberries. Directed by Miguel Angel Caballero.

"Waiter for Life" -- An intimate look at a group of longtime waiters at San Francisco's Scoma's Restaurant. Directed by Dan Goldes.

"Way of the Shepherd" -- Away from his family for up to three years at a time, Peruvian shepherd Christian Aliaga works the hillsides of Northern California with a massive herd of goats and two exceptional border collies. Directed by Matthew Boyd.

"Whit's End" -- In the funky neighborhood of Rockaway Beach, New York, culinary maverick Whit Aycock blends local seafood with his Southern roots and iconic vibe to find redemption through food, cooking and community. Directed by Andrew Quinn.

Saturday, March 8

11 a.m.: "Plastic People" -- Scientists investigate the growing threat of microplastics in human bodies, while journalist Ziya Tong makes it personal by undergoing experiments in her home, on her food, and on her body. Directed by Ben Addelman.

2 p.m.: "¡Casa Bonita Mi Amor!" -- When "South Park" creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone learn that Casa Bonita (which was featured in a 2003 episode of the series) might close its doors for good, they attempt to preserve a crumbling piece of their childhood and Denver history. Directed by Arthur Bradford.

5 p.m.: "Veselka: The Rainbow on the Corner at the Center of the World" -- The story of New York City's beloved Ukrainian restaurant Veselka and its father-and-son proprietors, Tom and Jason Birchard. Directed by Michael Fiore. In-person Q&A with Fiore and the Birchards.

7:45 p.m.: "La Cocina" -- In the heart of a bustling Times Square kitchen, dreams and desperation collide as the staff each chase the elusive American dream. Featuring Raúl Briones, Rooney Mara and Anna Diaz. Directed by Alonso Ruizpalacios.

Sunday, March 9

5 p.m.: "Chef " -- After igniting a Twitter war with a well-known culinary critic, a Los Angeles chef packs his knives, heads home to Miami and opens a food truck. Featuring Jon Favreau, Sofía Vergara and John Leguizamo. Directed by Jon Favreau.
