Liquid Group, a Singapore-based fintech company specializing in cross-border digital payments, and TerraPay, a leader in simplifying global money movement headquartered in London, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore interoperability between RoamQR™, Liquid Group's interoperable QR payment network, and TerraPay's global payment infrastructure.

The collaboration aims to create a cross-network framework that enables consumers and merchants across Africa, Asia, and other global regions to make and receive QR payments seamlessly, expanding access to digital financial ecosystems through a standards-based, interoperable approach.

Under the MoU, Liquid Group and TerraPay will work together to establish a secure and scalable bridge between national and regional payment networks, exploring potential integrations that enable real-time QR acceptance and settlement across multiple markets.

RoamQR™ is an industry-led QR interoperability network providing a standards-based, scalable foundation for connecting wallet ecosystems, national QR networks, and merchant acquirers across markets. TerraPay's global payments infrastructure enables interoperability across more than 100 markets, supporting secure and compliant transaction processing between financial institutions, wallets, and acquirers worldwide.

Through this collaboration, Liquid Group and TerraPay aim to establish a mutually aligned interoperability framework that supports cross-border QR payments across Africa, Asia, and other connected regions -- empowering consumers and merchants through a unified, open, and inclusive approach.

"This MoU with TerraPay marks an important step in our efforts to expand RoamQR's global interoperability. By connecting with TerraPay's global network, we aim to enable seamless, standards-based QR payments that empower wallet users and merchants across Africa, Asia, and beyond. The MoU serves as a strategic framework for future cooperation, focusing on technical integration, compliance alignment, and the development of common interoperability standards for QR payments. Both organizations will jointly explore pilot implementations to test and demonstrate cross-network connectivity between participating payment providers in Africa and Asia.

The signing took place on the sidelines of the Singapore FinTech Festival 2025, highlighting the growing momentum behind industry-driven efforts to make cross-border payments simpler, faster, and more inclusive.
