Will the deadlock in Pakistan-Afghanistan talks lead to a ceasefire collapse?

There are fears of the ceasefire ending and a resurgence of terrorism due to a deadlock in the talks between Pakistan and Afghanistan held in Istanbul.

Federal Minister for Information Atta Tarar said in a statement on social media that Pakistan stands firm on its principled position that Afghanistan bears the responsibility to control terrorism originating from its soil.

Atta Tarar said that the Afghan Taliban has so far failed to fulfill its international, regional, and bilateral commitments under the Doha Peace Agreement. Pakistan reiterates that it holds goodwill toward the Afghan people and wishes for a peaceful future for them.

The Federal Minister for Information said Pakistan will not support any actions of the Taliban government that are not in the interest of the Afghan people or neighboring countries. Pakistan will continue to take all necessary steps to protect its people and sovereignty.

Minister for Information Atta Tarar said Pakistan expressed gratitude to Türkiye and Qatar for their mediation in the talks. It may be recalled that the third round of talks between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban began in Istanbul two days ago.
