Residents and travelers passing through Tilbury can now experience a fully remodeled Flying J travel center following the completion of a major upgrade by Pilot Company.
The travel center, located at 19325 Essex County Road 42, has reopened with a refreshed curb-to-counter design and a range of new amenities aimed at improving comfort and convenience for guests. The project is part of Pilot's New Horizons initiative, a more than $1-billion investment to modernize travel centers across North America.
To mark the reopening and its continued investment in the community, Pilot has donated $10,000 to the Lambton Kent District School Board. The funds will be used to purchase Chromebooks for students at Tilbury Area Public School and Tilbury District High School, supporting classroom learning -- particularly in math and science.

"This contribution will be instrumental in supporting student learning by allowing us to purchase new Chromebooks," said Paul Beasley, principal of Tilbury Area Public School. "These devices will enhance students' access to digital resources and create a more engaging learning environment."
Bernadette Bruette, principal at Tilbury District High School, said the donation will help expand technology use in classrooms and increase student engagement.
Pilot officials say the Tilbury remodel reflects the company's long-term commitment to the communities it serves.
"We are proud to serve the Tilbury community with our upgraded travel center," said Sam Edgmon, vice president of operations business development at Pilot. "Whether you're fueling up on your daily commute or stopping to refresh while passing through, we look forward to helping guests make the most of every mile."
Upgrades to the Tilbury Flying J include a revitalized interior with a modern design, a new kitchen for fresh food preparation, expanded hot and cold deli options, enhanced beverage coolers, and remodeled restrooms and showers.
The community investment aligns with Pilot's "Miles of Good" initiative, which focuses on education, safety and veterans' support in the areas where the company operates.
To celebrate the reopening, Pilot is also offering limited-time promotions for guests, including seasonal food and beverage specials and savings through the Pilot mobile app.
Pilot Travel Centers LLC, founded in 1958 and headquartered in Knoxville, Tennessee, operates more than 900 locations across the United States and Canada and serves more than one million guests daily. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc.
