The Andhra University (AU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Survey of India to strengthen collaboration in geospatial technologies, enabling joint research, internships, information sharing, and academic support. The five-year agreement was signed by Registrar professor K. Rambabu and Additional Surveyor General G. Varuna Kumar in the presence of Vice-Chancellor professor G.P. Rajashekar on Thursday.
Survey of India eligible staff will have the opportunity to pursue M.E., M.Tech., and Ph.D. programs at the Andhra University, while AU's UG and PG students will receive internship opportunities at the National Institute for Geo-information and Technology.
Both institutions will jointly organise conferences, workshops, and skill development programs.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor professor G.P. Rajashekar highlighted the importance of expert guidance from the Survey of India officials to AU researchers and expressed AU's readiness to host national and international events for the Survey of India.
Geospatial Smart Thinking workshop for schools
Additionally, the Department of Geo-Engineering at AU as part of the university's centenary celebrations will host a two-day workshop for school teachers and students on "Geospatial Smart Thinking in School Education" on December 5-6 at Ambedkar Auditorium.
A group of B.Tech and M.Tech students from the department are preparing different models/themes. Schools can send students as participants to learn about NASA and ISRO activities at this two-day workshop.
