Police constable Rajkumar, who is currently under suspension for alleged misconduct, has been dismissed from service after an internal inquiry by the Puducherry Police department.
An order issued by Senior Superintendent of Police, Crime and Intelligence, Praveen Kumar Tripathi said the Disciplinary Authority of the Police department has decided to impose maximum penalty of dismissal from service considering the serious charges levelled against the constable while he was serving in Karaikal region in 2024.
Rajkumar had been accused of wrongfully confining a couple in the Coastal Police Beach Outpost in Karaikal while he was on duty. He was also accused of molesting the girl at the police station. The department had registered a case against the constable in September 2024, after the incident came to light.
He was suspended and an internal inquiry ordered. The inquiry revealed the constable's "grave misconduct, indiscipline, dereliction of duty and untrustworthiness," which amounted to violation of Central Civil Service Rules, an officer said.
