These are great days, the greatest of days, for Hull Kingston Rovers. Saturday night at Old Trafford truly proved to be the Theatre of Dreams that many supporters, past and present, could never, ever have thought possible even a short few years ago.
Yet here we are. Super League champions. Treble winners. This simply doesn't happen to clubs like Hull KR. We have been taught that what we saw was not possible. Newsflash, it is.
The implications of this win could be far-reaching. It is proof to other clubs that have lived under the monopoly of Wigan, St Helens and Leeds that there is hope, there is a way to win the big one. It might not be so much a changing of the guard but the catalyst for others to truly push and challenge the top dogs.
But back to Rovers. The challenge for them once they look towards 2026 is now maintaining. Watching how that unfolds will be fascinating. Throughout the history of Super League, we have been told that only teams who have good youth production can win Grand Finals and beyond that, win them consistently.
It's no secret Rovers do not have that right now and their squad is on the older side too. To maintain themselves at the top, they will have to do things different to every other champion side before them.
It's not that it can't be done, they've already proven the so called impossible can indeed be done. But watching it unfold will be interesting to watch.
Key to it all is recruitment and it must be said Rovers have been nothing short of tremendous on that front. Micky McIlorum and Jared Waerea-Hargreaves were brought in to providing that title-winning know how, they've passed on that wisdom and Rovers now have a full squad of champions.
The challenge short term is getting them up for it again and long-term, it's managing the squad to keep it top quality despite the inevitable salary cap pressures that will follow.
But enough of that for now. Who cares? There's a party to be had, and a big one at that.
One Rovers completely deserve too. They have been doubted over and over, they have responded emphatically in turn. It shouldn't be lost on people that Rovers won by 18 against last year's champions. Only three Grand Finals have been won by a bigger margin.
So forget about the future. Enjoy the now. Because these are the good times.
