MILLSBORO, Del. - A 52-year-old man from Pennsylvania was killed Saturday evening after his motorcycle collided with a car at a busy Millsboro intersection, state police said.
The crash happened around 7 p.m. on Dupont Boulevard near Centerview Drive. Investigators said the Honda motorcycle was headed northbound at a high speed when it ran a red light and entered the intersection. At the same time, a Chevrolet Malibu with a green light crossed through, and the motorcycle slammed into its left front side.
The impact ejected the motorcyclist, who was wearing a DOT-approved helmet. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are withholding his name until relatives are notified.
The Malibu's driver, a 21-year-old Millsboro man, was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and later released.
Police closed the roadway for more than three hours as the Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated.
