A 47-year-old man who allegedly crashed his vehicle into a bicyclist in Cathedral City and fired a round before missing, then fled the scene, was arrested, authorities said Wednesday.
John Nicholas Duran of Palm Springs was arrested Tuesday and booked into Benoit Detention Center in Indio on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon, according to the Cathedral City Police Department.
Bail information was not immediately available.
Officers responded to a report of a shooting at about 1 p.m. Tuesday at Porter and Rodeo roads. Police said Duran struck the bicyclist, identified only as a 40-year-old man of Cathedral City, with his vehicle after the two men were involved in a confrontation.
Duran allegedly then turned the vehicle around and shot one round out the window of the vehicle, but missed the bicyclist. Duran fled the scene before police arrived, authorities said.
Paramedics at the scene treated the victim for an unspecified complaint of pain.
Police, in cooperation with Riverside Gang Impact Team, found and arrested Duran later that day in Rancho Mirage.
