Residents across the UAE woke up to strong winds, chilly weather and overcast skies during the early morning hours of Wednesday, December 17.
The country will continue to experience cloudy weather and rains today, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).
The weather department has forecast the formation of some convective clouds -- which signal rainfall -- over the islands, and extending to parts of the coastal, northern, and eastern regions.

The Met issued yellow alerts in some parts of the country for fresh southeasterly winds causing blowing dust and sand. There will be a likely drop in horizontal visibility to less than 2,000 metres over some coastal and internal areas, especially northward and eastward from 6am today until 4.30pm.
In a statement, NCM stated that southeasterly to northeasterly winds will blow with speeds ranging from 15 to 30 km/h, reaching up to 50 km/h at times.
Temperatures are set to range between 20ºC and 25ºC in Abu Dhabi; 21ºC and 26ºC in Dubai; and 19ºC and 25ºC in Sharjah. The mercury is set to drop to a lowest of 8ºC in mountain regions and will hit a high of 30ºC in internal areas of the UAE.
Conditions at sea are expected to be moderate to rough in the Arabian Gulf, and light to moderate in the Oman Sea.
