Harry Redknapp has praised two Liverpool players following their win over West Ham in the Premier League. The Reds claimed a 2-0 victory at the London Stadium on Sunday to end their run of defeats in recent weeks.

Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo got the goals that clinched all three points for Liverpool in the capital over the weekend. Before the win over the Hammers, the Reds had lost their previous three matches across all competitions by a three-goal margin, conceding ten goals in the process.

Liverpool have now climbed up to eighth place in the Premier League table and are three points adrift of the top four spots. Next up for Arne Slot's side is a return to Anfield where they will face Sunderland on Wednesday night in the top flight.

Redknapp has praised Joe Gomez for his performance in Liverpool's win over West Ham. Gomez made his long-awaited return from injury to start at right-back for the Reds, in what was his first start in the Premier League this season and just his fifth appearance of the campaign across all competitions.

"Fair play to Joe Gomez, he came in from out the cold and had an excellent game at West Ham," Redknapp told football betting site BetVictor.

"He really shored up that backline but chipped in with an assist too. I'd be surprised if he's not involved a lot more moving forward."

Gakpo was also praised by Redknapp, with the former Premier League manager explaining why the Netherlands international stands out above his teammates.

"Cody Gakpo had a good game for Liverpool in that win at West Ham," said Redknapp.

"He's clearly a lad that Slot trusts a lot, and you can see why, he delivered for him here with a goal and an assist in what was such a vital game. It's important they build on this moving forward."
