The launch of a book about Thomas Hardy was extremely well attended this week.
Giles Keating's book release event took place at Waterstones in Dorchester and sheds light on Thomas Hardy's multiple relationships.
In his 10 Lovers 50 Poems, Keating explores Hardy's polyamorous relationships with a range of women, including his second wife Florence Hardy and Gertrude Bugler, the first actress to portray "Tess" in 1924.
The book also touches upon Hardy's turbulent marriage to his first wife, Emma Gifford, along with Tryphena Sparks and Eliza Nicholls.
During the event, Keating was interviewed by Mark Damon Chutter, chair and academic director of the Thomas Hardy Society.
Mr Chutter praised the publication, saying: "The book is a great addition to Hardy studies and there are videoed performances of the poetry on YouTube which accompany the text- this an example of making Hardy's poetry accessible to everyone alongside conveying the performativity of his work to a wider audience".
