A Malaysian woman recently went viral after sharing her gratitude toward Malaysia's public healthcare system, revealing that she only had to pay RM12 out of a total RM1,028 bill for her stay at Shah Alam Hospital.
"RM12 from RM1,028. Proud to be Malaysian," she wrote in her Threads post, expressing her appreciation for the Malaysia's heavily subsidised medical care.
She also attached a photograph of her Shah Alam Hospital bill.
She shared in the comments that her experience staying in a private hospital where the bill racked up to five figures.
Her post quickly gained traction online, with many Malaysians echoing her sentiment and praising the dedication of healthcare workers.
Many netizens took to the comments to share their own experiences of affordable medical care in Malaysia's government hospitals and clinics.
"My child underwent a dental operation that cost RM3,000, but we only paid RM53 thanks to government subsidies. Thank you to the hospital staff, doctors, and our government," commented ericlimws.
"When I fractured my MCB4 and five bones, I was warded for four days, had wires inserted, and got four to five stitches. The total cost was over RM3,000, almost RM4,000 but in the end, I only paid RM67. This was at Ampang Hospital," said ghost_x_luna.
