While many New Yorkers spent this week prepping their Thanksgiving dinners and shopping Black Friday sales, Katie Holmes was busy serving up her own kind of festivities -- sartorially speaking, that is. On Wednesday, the actor traded out her signature loose slacks and sweaters for two ensembles including controversial styles.
As she stepped out in New York City, Holmes proved she could still make comfort a priority in her look, slipping into a pair of black stirrup leggings. The daring silhouette threw her outfit back to the late '80s, and she emphasized the retro aesthetic by pairing the leggings with a double-breasted, denim peplum shirt, finished with oversized lapels.
Black peep-toe heels with a curved white lobster-claw heel added a modern twist to her look, and her trademark brown aviator sunglasses shaded her eyes. In hand, Holmes carried a large gray suede bag.
Later that day, the Rare Objects director made an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where she talked about her pre-show rituals while performing on Broadway in Our Town, her uncanny ability to nap through anything, and how her mom sent Jimmy a care package. For the occasion, Holmes stepped up her boho aesthetic with a one-sleeved, crocheted top and skirt from Christopher Esber's Resort 2025 collection.
The ivory set was embellished with silver sequins, which added sparkling details to the collar, cuff, and skirt of the ensemble. She paired the look with silver peep-toe heels and silver hoop earrings, while sporting a new, longer hairstyle.
Though Holmes isn't afraid to take fashion risks, this experimental outfit is unusual territory for her. Her simple styling and chic beauty look helped bring it all together, however, making this particular ensemble feel like an elevated version of her everyday look.
