Standoff in North Auburn prompts shelter-in-place

A shelter-in-place is underway in Placer County due to a standoff with an armed man, the sheriff's office said. A man refused a request from deputies in the area of Bill Francis Drive in North Auburn around 11:30 a.m., according to the Placer County Sheriff's Office. The sheriff's office said those deputies were responding to reports of a man shooting a rifle with a drum magazine. The sheriff's office said a crisis negotiation team is working to try to get the man to peacefully turn himself over but he is being uncooperative. There is a shelter-in-place for Crystal Springs Road and Bill Francis Road is closed at Princeton Drive.
