Christchurch hotel plans to covert function rooms

Plans to convert rooms at the Kings Arms Hotel in Christchurch have been submitted to BCP Council.

777 Hotels Ltd has submitted a full planning application for the King's Arms Hotel 18 Castle Street, Christchurch, BH23 1DT to convert the function room into eight guest suites which will make a total of 28 bedrooms.

It is also proposed that the first-floor kitchen be converted into a manger's suite with three new windows and that the steps at the front of the hotel are removed.

The King's Arms Hotel is a Grade II listed building, a separate application has been submitted to get permission to make changes to the site.

According to planning documents the proposal is being made as 777 Hotels Ltd has now completed a thorough refurbishment of the bedrooms and the bar area, and it was obvious that the mix of business was unsustainable.

There are four large function spaces, with extremely seasonal business which is often vacant but when they are occupied it is very close to our neighbours at the back which led to noise problems late at night and a lack of parking for several hundred attendees.

Plans will remain in public consultation until January 23 under planning application number P/25/05154/FUL.
