Thiruvananthapuram: Former chief secretary S M Vijayanand has urged state govt to lead the implementation of living will, which ensures dignity at the end of life.He was speaking after inaugurating a workshop on living will at district conference of Senior Citizens Service Council in the city. He stated that the constitutional right to live with dignity should extend to the end of life as well. At the event, Dr M R Rajagopal advocated promoting death literacy to facilitate the living will's implementation. He added that Karnataka has commenced steps to implement the living will and urged Kerala to undertake similar measures to benefit its populace. Dr C V Prashanth, RMO of Palliative Care at RCC, expressed that the govt was expected to address public concerns regarding the living will's implementation. Advocate J Sandhya analysed the legal aspects of the living will. The workshop resolved to petition the govt to legislate the living will and recommended establishing living will counters in all hospitals, as well as simplifying related procedures. Following the workshop, V Thankachan, a resource person for Aardram project, delivered a lecture on 'medicine knowledge'.
