New York Jets quarterback Justin Fields performed well in his first go as his new team's starter.
The Jets topped the Green Bay Packers in their 2025 NFL preseason opener to the tune of a 30-10 final.
Fields only played one series but made it count. He was 3-for-4 passing for 42 yards. He rushed in a touchdown to cap the drive.
Head coach Aaron Glenn was left impressed.
"It was good to see him use his legs. We know he has that in his bag, but the thing that he showed is we can call a play and take a shot, but if the shots not there he did a good job checking it down. He was patient. He did everything that we needed to get this win," Glenn said via press conference.
While looking dynamic, Fields admitted after the win that he wasn't exactly trying to do that. It was a much more simple approach for him.
"We were emphasizing was just a smooth operation," Fields said.
