Cowgirl volleyballers Holcomb and Lauterwasser named to All-MW Team

LARAMIE, Wyo. -- Two Wyoming Cowgirls, Paige Lauterwasser and Sarah Holcomb, join the conference's very best on the All-Mountain West Team, the conference announced Tuesday. This is the second year in a row Lauterwasser has received the honor.

Holcomb, meanwhile, was placed on the conference's honorable mentions section last year. This year, however, her league-play best 1.64 blocks per game -- the third year in a row that she has led in the category -- earned her a spot. According to UW Athletics, she is also the first player in MW history to lead the conference in blocks three consecutive years.

Holcomb's other metrics, including the second-best hitting percentage in the conference and team-best points per set has been instrumental in Wyoming taking third in regular season conference play.

Lauterwasser, who is no stranger to success in the Mountain West, has put up 2.75 kills and 3.20 points per set in conference play, according to UW Athletics. She's averaged 3.36 digs per set and put up 32 total blocks and 15 service aces in conference play, while also scoring 11 double-doubles in league play and having 11 games with 10 or more kills.

Wyoming has jumped up to third in the conference from eighth just one season prior. With a little more wind in their sails this year, they look to first take down #6 San Diego State in the first round of the championship tournament Wednesday at 5 p.m. in Las Vegas, Nevada.

If the Cowgirls win, they'll take on second-seed and reigning MW Champs Colorado State Friday, Nov. 28. For more information, see the Mountain West Women's Volleyball Championship Tournament page on the MW website.
