A Windsor man faces up to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to violent threats against a medical facility in Springfield.
"They're gonna get what's coming soon. 3 years later I'm still in pain. You're next. Now refusing to release medical records. Will be there in the morning to get them myself one way or another," Michael Andrew Rodgers wrote in an April 5, 2023, publicly viewable Google review of the unnamed medical practice in Springfield. Along with the text he posted an image of a hand holding a gun.
The threats escalated in a lengthy fraud report tip he submitted on the medical facility to the Social Security Administration's Office of the Inspector General website.
"I m gonna start taking what I need. By any means nessacary [sic]," the submission read in part, according to court documents. Most of the rest was written in all-capital letters: "GIVE ME MY MONEY OR IM GONNA START DROPPING PEOPLE. YOULL NEVER FIND MY WEAPONS SO STOP LOOKING AND GIVE ME MY CHECK."
"NEXT TIME I SLICE SOMETHING OPEN. IT WONT BE ME. ITLL BE ONE OF YOUR CHILDREN ILL MERC A WHOLE SCHOOL AND NOT GIVE A (expletive)," the submission concluded. "SO YOULL BE MY FIRST TARGET IF YOU KEEP REFUSING TO HELP ME."
Rodgers, 32, was arrested and charged in September 2024. He pleaded guilty in federal court in Springfield late last month to one count of threatening interstate communications and one count of extortionate interstate communications.
The threat charge carries a maximum of five years in prison whereas the extortionate threat charge carries a maximum of 20 years in prison. U.S. District Court Judge Mark G. Mastroianni scheduled sentencing for Feb. 4.
