Queen Elizabeth II's children meant the world to her.
To mark the first anniversary of Queen Elizabeth's death, Charles released an audio message that paid tribute to his mother.
He said, "In marking the first anniversary of Her late Majesty's death and my accession, we recall with great affection her long life, devoted service and all she meant to so many of us."
"I am deeply grateful, too, for the love and support that has been shown to my wife and myself during this year as we do our utmost to be of service to you all."

King Charles III is Elizabeth and Philip's firstborn son. He was born on Nov. 14, 1948.
Charles is a father of two kids, Prince William and Prince Harry whom he shared with his late ex-wife, Princess Diana.
The two were married from 1981 to 1996. One year after they got divorced, Diana died from the injuries she sustained in a tragic car accident in Paris.
In 2005, Charles remarried when he tied the knot with Queen Camilla.
According to the line of succession, Charles was first in line for the British throne after Elizabeth. Once Charles became king, his wife took on the title of queen consort. However, her title has since changed on the official palace website to queen.
Elizabeth announced her desire for Camilla to become queen consort as part of her Platinum Jubilee celebration in 2022.
"This anniversary also affords me a time to reflect on the goodwill shown to me by people of all nationalities, faiths and ages in this country and around the world over these years," the queen said in a statement in February 2022. "I would like to express my thanks to you all for your support. I remain eternally grateful for, and humbled by, the loyalty and affection that you continue to give me.
"And when, in the fullness of time, my son Charles becomes King, I know you will give him and his wife Camilla the same support that you have given me; and it is my sincere wish that, when that time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her own loyal service," the message continued.
In February 2024, Buckingham Palace officials revealed Charles had been diagnosed with cancer. Although the palace has not disclosed what kind of cancer the king has, a spokesperson did confirm it is not prostate cancer.
Charles initially took a brief step back from his public duties due to his diagnosis. However, he has resumed them since the spring, as the palace announced that Charles' medical team is "very encouraged" by the progress of his recovery.
Princess Anne is Elizabeth and Philip's second child and only daughter. She was born on Aug. 15, 1950.
In 1973, Anne got married to her first husband, Olympic gold medalist Mark Phillips. Their marriage lasted nearly 20 years until they got divorced in 1992.
Anne and Phillips share two kids, Peter, 47, and Zara, 43.
In the same year she divorced Phillips, Anne married her second husband, Sir Timothy Laurence.
Anne is known for being the first British royal to ever compete in the Olympics. In 1976, she went to Montreal for the Summer Olympics and competed in the three-day equestrian event. She ended the Games placing 24th overall.
At Charles' coronation, Anne also played a very important role. While on horseback, she acted as her brother's "Gold-Stick-in-Waiting."
In an interview with CBC, Anne said the role is the "original close protection officer" and represents a position akin to a bodyguard.
"Not least of all, it solves my dress problem," she joked.
In June 2024, Anne was hospitalized for a minor head injury believed to have been caused by a horse. Anne stayed in the hospital for five nights before she was discharged.
"I would like to extend my warmest thanks to all the team at Southmead Hospital for their care, expertise and kindness during my wife's short stay," Laurence said, according to NBC News.
As of December 2024, Anne is 17th in line for the British throne.
Prince Andrew is Elizabeth and Philip's third child. He was born on Feb. 19, 1960.
Andrew is a father of two daughters, Princess Beatrice, 36, and Princess Eugenie, 34, whom he shares with his ex-wife, Sarah, Duchess of York.
Andrew and Sarah Ferguson were married from 1986 to 1996.
In 2019, Andrew stepped away from his public duties over his past friendship with the late convinced sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. At the time, he said his "former association" with Epstein had become a "major disruption" to the royal family's work.
The queen was supportive of Andrew's decision, and in January 2022, Buckingham Palace announced that Andrew lost several of his royal distinctions.
"With The Queen's approval and agreement, The Duke of York's military affiliations and Royal patronages have been returned to The Queen," the statement read.
Andrew is eighth in line for the British throne, as of December 2024.
Prince Edward is Elizabeth and Philip's youngest child. He was born on March 10, 1964.
Edward shares his two kids, Lady Louise Windsor, 21, and James, Earl of Wessex, 17, with his wife, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh.
