Four of the best women's college basketball programs will face off in the Women's Champions Classic on Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. First up, it's Iowa vs. Tennessee.
The undefeated teams will tip off for the first time since 1993. It would be an understatement to say the programs have had some changes since then, including five national championships for the Vols and two straight national title game appearances for the Hawkeyes. Still, both have produced the most iconic collegiate players in Candace Parker and Caitlin Clark.
But this year's squads are something new.
Kim Caldwell leads the Vols in her first season after one year at Marshall. It's gone more than well so far, starting off with six straight wins including a two-point victory over Florida State.
The Hawkeyes are their toughest challenge yet. Also led by first-year head coach Jan Jensen, No. 17 Iowa is showing depth and grit in its first month without Clark. It's downed eight straight opponents for its best start since 2004.
