DJB & PWD to dedicate projects worth Rs 3000 cr to transform city during 'Seva Pakhwada'

New Delhi, Sep 11 (UNI) Marking the beginning of Seva Pakhwada on September 17 to October 2, on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday, the Delhi government is preparing to gift the national capital's residents with a historic development package, Delhi's PWD & Water Minister's office said on Thursday.

On the occasion, the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) and the Public Works Department (PWD) will dedicate projects worth over Rs 3,000 crore, aimed at transforming the city's water supply, sewage treatment, drainage, and road infrastructure.

DJB will be dedicating thirteen projects in the coming weeks that include, a comprehensive sewer network in Sonia Vihar, a state-of-the-art Master Balancing Reservoir (MBR) at Palla, which will play a critical role in strengthening Delhi's water storage and distribution system, a new Underground Reservoir (UGR) at Bijwasan, designed to stabilize water supply in South-West Delhi, Upgradation of the Okhla Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), one of the largest in the city, to enhance treatment efficiency and protect the Yamuna river from pollution and several additional STPs and WTPs across the city, collectively raising the overall water and sewage management capacity of the national capital.

These projects are aimed to significantly enhance Delhi's ability to ensure clean drinking water, efficient sewage treatment, and improved sanitation for millions of residents.

Similarly the PWD will be unveiling and launching its landmark projects, part of its long-term blueprint and key connectivity works. These will include the Delhi Drainage Master Plan, providing a comprehensive roadmap to tackle water-logging and flooding across the city, and ensuring long-term resilience against extreme weather.

Another important project will be the Nand Nagri Flyover, designed to decongest East Delhi, saving travel time, reducing pollution, and providing safer connectivity for thousands of commuters on a daily basis.

Speaking about the upcoming initiatives, Delhi PWD & Water Minister Parvesh Verma said, "On the birthday of our respected Prime Minister, these transformative projects will be our government's gift to the people of Delhi."

He added that, starting from water pipelines to flyovers, every initiative reflects the vision of a capital that is healthier, safer, and more efficient. Verma further noted, "This Seva Pakhwada will mark a turning point for Delhi. With projects worth thousands of crores, we will be setting new benchmarks in public service and modern infrastructure. These efforts are not just about development -- they are about service to society," he added.

The minister said that while DJB's initiatives will improve water and sanitation facilities, PWD's measures will reduce congestion, strengthen and enhance civic convenience.
