Imagine people making fun of Coach Saban just a few years ago when he was at the height of the Alabama Crimson Tide dynasty. People were absolutely terrified of the college football tyrant, but now that he's entered his post-coaching media career?
Social media is coming after the man that used to be untouchable.
In the defense of those on the internet, Nick Saban did choose quite the interesting hat to wear while fulfilling his duties on College GameDay. The ESPN program aired a special Friday edition of the show ahead of the first 12-team College Football Playoff game between Notre Dame and Indiana, and the elements called for the show hosts to bundle up.
It also apparently called for Nick Saban to cosplay as Indiana Jones, and though he ended up sticking with his fashion choice throughout the show, even he was a little hesitant about it. Coach Saban continually questioned whether it was a good hat or not, which prompted co-host and human-energy-drink Pat McAfee to take a live poll on air:
See Saban? The crowd loves your fancy schmancy cap!
However, the same can't be said for the internet. Those pesky keyboard warriors quickly got busy making fun of the 73-year-old (which makes me sad) by posting memes and hilarious comparisons (which made me chuckle). Should we all be laughing at a living college football legend with seven college football championships under his belt? No, we shouldn't.
But then again, should Nick Saban have worn that hat for the special edition of College Gameday? Let's see what social media had to say about it:
Hey... let's be honest. Being compared to Indiana Jones isn't all that bad. Harrison Ford was a handsome devil - and has now entered into his silver fox years. Saban should be taking all of these jokes in stride.
It could be a lot worse... though he could've also just bailed on the hat at any point.
