The Columbus North girls wrestling team continued its steady growth curve with a 15th-place finish among 28 teams at Saturday's Monrovia Invitational -- an event packed with ranked individuals, powerhouse programs, and deep brackets that challenged athletes from start to finish.

The headline performance came from Zahlynn Williams, who recorded three pins on her way to finishing fourth in her weight class. Williams wrestled with confident aggression, controlling ties and attacking angles early in each match. Her ability to transition from takedowns directly into pinning combinations showed a significant refinement from earlier in the season.

Four other Bull Dogs earned podium placements by finishing sixth -- Paris Lopez, Leslie Bridges, Aubreigh Campbell, and Morgan Clark. Each wrestler navigated deep, competitive brackets, collecting wins that showcased both technical improvement and growing confidence.

For a young roster still learning to adjust to varsity-level physicality and pace, the meet was a valuable next step. Columbus North displayed improved stamina, better mat management, and a stronger understanding of match strategy across the board.

The outcome wasn't just about placing -- it was about progress, and the Bull Dogs walked away with plenty of it.
