Northern Lights seen across UK as space storm treats Brits to stunning display

Brits enjoyed an incredible Northern Lights show that turned the sky green, pink and blue over parts of the UK last night.

People had their best chance to spot the stunning aurora in elevated and more remote areas, with little light pollution. The Met Office revealed an ongoing solar radiation storm led to the 'Coronal Mass Ejection' (CME) reaching Earth on Tuesday night.

The beautiful display is typically only visible in the auroral oval - a ring of light across Canada, Alaska, Iceland and the Arctic region - but the weather phenomena saw the light show creep down to the UK. Luckily for people who might have missed out on last night's show, there is a good chance the Northern Lights will make another appearance across the UK tonight.
