A growing number of Americans say that President Donald Trump is too old to be the president of the United States.
A recent YouGov Poll found that almost half of Americans, 49%, say Trump is too old compared to 39% who say he is not too old.
The findings mark a 15% increase from the 34% of Americans who said Trump was too old to serve in YouGov's February 2024 poll, according to an X post from the firm. It also marks a 7% increase from YouGov's previous poll in April 2025, where 42% of Americans said Trump is too old.
Trump, 79, is the oldest person to have taken the oath of office as president. He was sworn in at 78 years and 220 days old in 2025. The second-oldest person to become president was Trump's predecessor, Former President Joe Biden. Biden was 78 years and 61 days old when he was inaugurated in 2021.
Through Labor Day weekend, rumors swirled on the internet after Trump did not make a public appearance for six days. Some users on social media said that Trump's health deteriorated. Others claimed that he had died.
On Sept. 2, Trump was asked about the rumors of his death by Fox News reporter Peter Doocy.
"I didn't see that. I have heard. It's sort of crazy, but last week, I did numerous news conferences. All successful, they went very well. Like this is going very well," Trump said. "And then I didn't do any for two days, and they said, 'There must be something wrong with him.'"
The recent YouGov poll was conducted between Sept. 2 and Sept. 4 with a sample size of 1,678 U.S. adults. The margin of error was plus or minus 4%.
