Long before Disney+ was created, ABC's superhero drama Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was the Marvel Cinematic Universe's foothold in the world of television. Picking up after The Avengers, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. see a mysteriously resurrected Phil Coulson lead a ragtag group of operatives. The early seasons feature occasional cameos from MCU characters like Nick Fury, Maria Hill, Jasper Sitwell, and Peggy Carter.
As the show continues, the familiar faces dwindle and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. focus on building its own array of impressive heroes and villains. With the MCU beginning to integrate characters from its other forgotten gems, there are plenty of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. characters primed to make the leap to the big time.

Based on the classic comic character of the same name, Lorelei is an Asgardian sorceress and long-time rival to Lady Sif. She arrives on Earth after escaping an Asgardian prison and quickly sets her sights on world domination. Thanks to her ability to charm and control men, Lorelei nearly succeeds. Luckily for Coulson and his crew, Sif is hot on the villainess' trail and more than willing to lend a hand. With Sif's aid, the agents are able to thwart Lorelei's plan and send her back to her jail cell.
In the ten years since Lorelei was last seen, Asgard was destroyed, forcing its residents to seek refuge in Norway. This means, thanks to the events of Thor: Ragnorok, Lorelei is likely back on Earth. Given her penchant for trouble and her established rivalry with Sif, it's safe to assume she won't behave for very long.

From Morgan Stark to Sharon Carter to Adam Warlock, the MCU has introduced many Marvel Comics characters, but which ones have been largely forgotten?

The fate of Joey Guiterrez is one of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s dropped plots, and the MCU has the opportunity to resolve this glaring oversight. Joey is a skilled, super-powered operative with a guilty consciousness and a ton of potential. Bringing him back into the fold would make perfect sense. Plus, Joey is one of only a handful of established gay heroes in MCU canon, so his presence would add much-needed diversity to the franchise.
8 The S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents Faced Off Against the Kree
The Series Introduced a Conniving Kree Politician
Portrayed By:
Craig Parker
First Episode:
Season 5, Episode 20, "The One Who Will Save Us All"
Number of Appearances:

Taryan makes a brief but memorable appearance in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as the father of Season 5's big bad Kasius. Taryan is a powerful diplomat and the Kree representative to The Confederacy, an alliance of six alien species that wields great influence throughout the galaxy. He proves to be ruthless, cunning, and well-connected. Taryan warns of Thanos's impending attack on Earth and knows enough to get out of the Titan's way.
While the Confederacy is defeated, Taryan's whereabouts remain unknown. The MCU is becoming increasingly influenced by the cosmic side of Marvel Comics with The Marvels, Secret Invasion, and the upcoming The Fantastic Four: First Steps. So it stands to reason that the Kree will have a role to play in this next phase. If the writers are looking for an established Kree leader, Taryan is a natural candidate.
7 Many Fans Don't Know Deathlok Is Already in the MCU
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Puts a New Spin on His Story

J. August Richards

Season 1, Episode 1, "Pilot"

Mike Peterson, a frequent ally and occasional opponent of Phil Coulson's team, recurs in the first five seasons of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. As a test subject for the Centipede Project, Peterson gains super strength, enhanced agility, an advanced healing factor, and later a variety of cybernetic enhancements. When the project's sinister connections are exposed, Peterson opts to become a vigilante operating under the codename Deathlok.
While Peterson has yet to show up in any properties outside of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the name Deathlok carries a great deal of weight in the larger Marvel universe. In Marvel comics, several characters have carried the mantle of Deathlok and while none are a direct corollary for Peterson, this version captures all the key elements of the infamous cyborg. Given the character's level of name recognition, it would be no surprise if Deathlok breaks into the MCU.

Aida, or Artificial Intelligence Digital Assistant, is a new type of android known as a Life-Model Decoy or LMD. Unlike Vision and other robotic characters in the MCU, LMDs are copies of specific humans. When Aida is corrupted by the Darkhold, she leads the LMDs in a robot rebellion, trapping S.H.I.E.L.D. operatives in a virtual reality and replacing them with artificial duplicates.

Aida's very existence has sweeping implications for the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. In establishing Life-Model Decoys, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. introduces the possibility that Skrulls aren't the only force hidden in plain sight. LMDs provide the MCU with a realistic avenue to explain away character deaths or set up jarring betrayals. While Aida herself was reduced to ash at the end of season four, Marvel has shown its synthetic characters can always be reassembled.

He's From an Ancient Alien Race

Hailing from an ancient species of aliens known as the Chronicoms, Enoch has spent tens of thousands of years on Earth studying humans since the inception of society. Having grown fond of mankind, Enoch helps Coulson's team save the planet from an extinction event. He's later pivotal in helping the operatives stave off a Chronicom invasion that's scattered across the timeline.
In a heartbreaking scene in the series finale, Enoch sacrifices himself to protect his friends. However, death isn't always the end for a time traveler like Enoch. Canonically, the alien has lived for thousands of years and across multiple different timelines. With much of Enoch's past a mystery, there are plenty of opportunities for him to resurface in MCU projects.
4 A Silver Age Heroine Debuted in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Season 2, Episode 5, "A Hen in the Wolf House"

After two seasons, the character was written out of the show to lead a spin-off series that sadly never materialized.

Posts 1
When Bobbi showed up in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. she felt destined to leap to the big screen, as her comic counterpart is the longtime love interest of Avenger Clint Barton. However, when Avengers: Age of Ultron revealed Clint was happily married, Bobbi's future felt less certain. But Mockingbird is a hero in her own right and more than ready to move up to the big leagues.
3 The Spirit of Vengeance Has Ties to Marvel Mysticism
Robbie Reyes is the Current Ghost Rider
Portrayed By:
Gabriel Luna
First Episode:
Season 4, Episode 1, "The Ghost"
Number of Appearances:
9
The start of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season four finds the Ghost Rider leaving a trail of burnt and broken bodies along the streets of Los Angeles. Set on stopping his quest for retribution, Coulson's team determines the legendary anti-hero's secret identity, Robbie Reyes. The mild-mannered mechanic is possessed by the Spirit of Vengeance and determined to mete out bloody justice. Despite the Ghost Rider's brutal approach, Coulson finds common ground with him, even leaving the Darkhold in Reyes' care.
The Darkhold plays a prominent role in Wandavision and Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness, yet the MCU has yet to explain how it left Reyes' custody. Given the Rider's link to the tome, it's possible that he may have directly crossed paths with Agatha Harkness herself. Either way, an updated Ghost Rider film is overdue and there's plenty of vengeance to be had in Marvel's ever-expanding universe.

One of the primary protagonists of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Melinda May is an absolutely crucial part of Coulson's team. Well-respected in S.H.I.E.L.D. circles, May is known for her unflappable temperament. However, the series shows that, beneath her icy demeanor, she is a loyal friend and a kind soul. May is a combat expert, a skilled fighter, and a born leader. In the series finale, she retires from active duty to work as an instructor at the newly established Coulson Academy.
Given the tragic death of Maria Hill in Secret Invasion, Nick Fury needs a new second in command and Melinda May is the right person for the job. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. establishes Fury's trust in May early on, revealing that she joined Coulson's team under his orders. May also routinely reports on the group's missions to Fury throughout season one. May's restless nature won't let her stay retired for long.

She Has More Story to Explore

Portrayed By:
Chloe Bennet
First Episode:
Season 1, Episode 1, "Pilot"
Number of Appearances:
136
Daisy "Quake" Johnson is Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s most compelling hero. At the show's outset, she is an anarchist hacker going by the name Skye. Thanks to her time with S.H.I.E.L.D., Daisy uncovers the truth about her past, unlocks her Inhuman powers, and learns to care about the world around her. Under Coulson's mentorship, Daisy matures into a true hero and rises through the ranks of S.H.I.E.L.D. After leading the show for seven amazing seasons, Quake deserves more recognition.
The conclusion of the series sees Daisy ascend to new heights in the S.H.I.E.L.D. hierarchy, leading a mission to explore deep space, alongside her boyfriend, Agent Carter alum, Daniel Sousa. With the pair acting as "Astro Ambassadors," Daisy's crew could easily cross paths with any number of the MCU's outerspace heroes or villains. Alternatively, when Johnson makes her way back to Earth, she'll be a natural fit to work alongside Monica Ramabeau at S.W.O.R.D.
